Maltstock is all about you, our guests! Sharing and Enjoying whisky and the company of old and new friends. Bring a bottle of whisky and share it on the sharing tables in the Square, together with the story about this bottle.
But, Maltstock would not be Maltstock without a great program. Below you can find our top notch Masterclasses, Drinks with… sessions, and other program items such as our great Food and Drinks and The Highland Park Midnight Cafe Midnight cafe.
Masterclasses 2023
This year Malstock will feature FOUR very special Masterclasses on Friday. Everyone with a Maltstock ticket will receive an e-mail so they can let us know their preferences. We will allocate all available seats as relaxed as possible. You will receive your masterclass itinerary a couple of days before Maltstock starts.
Drinks with...!
On our relaxed Saturday we will be running 20 minutes tastings, starting every 20 minutes, with no more than 15 guests, throughout the afternoon, in 3 different locations. These are called “Drinks with…” and are very intimate, interactive and relaxed! …and of course included in your ticket fee.
You choose!
You can choose which Drinks with… tastings you would like to attend on Saturday. Sounds relaxed, doesn’t it? All you have to do is show up on time. Available seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Tastings will be no longer tan 20 minutes. After the tasting, everybody leaves and new guests can join the next tasting. This is our 2023 Drinks With Schedule with no less than 30 sessions featuring 13 speakers!!

What else do we have for you ? The main thing of course is still to relax, meet old and new friends and share and enjoy a few relaxed whiskies. At the heart of Maltstock we have the Square, where our guests leave the whisky they have brought to share with fellow enthusiast. Always great to see what people bring. So much to choose from, impossible to try all in just the one weekend.
(Whisky) stands
We also have a few whisky stands at maltstock. A good opportunity to try some amazing drams in a very relaxed manner. Please note that these whiskies are not included in the Maltstock ticket. You pay by the dram, but the prices charged are very relaxed indeed.
Arno Borsboom Private collector, Jeroen Koetsier private collector
Arno and Jeroen haven’t missed a single edition yet. Every year they bring an amazing selection of whiskies. Often liquid history. And you can try them for very relaxed dram prices. And if you’re interested in very good Italian wines, please check out Arno’s business www.piemonte-import.nl
Norberts Tebarts Whisky4All
Whisky4All Think we can all agree with that! if you’ve met Norbert you will never forget. His passion for everything American whisky is contagious. Combined with a truly outstanding knowledge and an ability to speak a thousand word a minute you can be sure to learn a lot. All while enjoying some very relaxed American whiskies from Norberts collection.
Erik Vanfrachem
Erik Vanfrachem has been around in the whisky scene for a while. And he is one of the few people to know how a ‘70’s Ardbeg will improve a cake (just ask him). He is also well known for his love of good single grains. We’re very happy he has agreed to join us at Maltstock and bring some grains from his personal collection. Single grains – more than a filling he likes to call it. You will be given the opportunity to try good single grains. But also to have a go at blending. Please note that since these are all from his private collection, it won’t be for free.
Ron Pieters - Jolijn Knikman - Old Amsterdam
Have you ever tried to combine good whisky with the outstanding cheeses of Old Amsterdam? Now is your chance! During our relaxed Saturday, Ron Pieters and Jolijn Knikman will be with us to present the famous and delicious cheeses of Old Amsterdam. Have a go at combining and be amazed!
Werry van Leeuwen - Sugar Hill
Werry is well known as the owner of the Arnhem based restaurant “Sugar Hill’. But besides creator of breath-taking food (which incidentally you’ll be able to taste as Werry will be responsible for one of the Midnight Snacks during our weekend) he' is also known for his spectacular whisky collection which features great whiskies among many of which are Japanese. Please note that since these are all from his private collection, it won’t be for free.
Food and Drinks
As always, food is an important part of a relaxed whisky weekend. We take great pride in arranging good and tasty food! A proper Scottish breakfast will be provided by Wullie and his team from the Hielander Scottish restaurant in Alkmaar. A great start of the day. There will be soup and freshly made sandwiches for lunch. Fruit will be available too! Of course dinner on Friday evening is provided. And Saturday there will be a fantastic BBQ. We’ll also provide relaxed midnight snacks. This year Werry van Leeuwen (Sugar Hill) and Harry Havinga (BBQ Guru) will be serving us delicious food to get us through the relaxed Maltstock evenings. So there will be lots of impossible to resist treats!
All drinks during the weekend are included: beers, wines, water, soda, coffee, tea. And there will be plenty of whisky as well.
Relax at the Highland Park Midnight Cafe
After a relaxed day of meeting people and tasting whisky it is time for a relaxed drink at the Highland Park Midnight Cafe. Here we serve relaxed drinks such as soft drinks and beers and a Midnight Snack to help you brave the night! Of course Highland Park will be represented as brand ambassador Melody will join us!
Morning walk
Just start the Saturday morning with a relaxed retox walk hosted by Tony! Let’s explore the relaxed surrounding at de Hatertse Vennen and perhaps try how a dram will taste in the middle of nature! Not to be missed this year!
Bottle Graveyard
All relaxed things must come to an end! A bottle of whisky only contains a certain amount of ambrosia and eventually the sharing ends!
When it is time to say goodby to our dearly departed, we will bring them to our relaxed Bottle Graveyard, so our fellow Maltstock guests can say goodby and the ones who shared these gems will know their contribution was appreciated and can say farewell too!
Parting sometimes is such relaxed sorrow!

Like the years before, this year will again feature our famous raffle. You can win great prizes like whisky goodies but also our Grand Prize: 4 nights accommodation and two meals for your next trip to Scotland!
